My McHenry Family Tree:
Settling in/for Missouri by way of New York and Ireland

[I've sort of fixed the top navigation bar to at least include the pages in this section and I hope that makes things easier. Information about any new site additions and/or updates are posted HERE.]

Some Small Introduction:

Some of this information will invariably prove to be, I’m warning you in advance on this one, absolutely and entirely wrong. Just plain wrong or at bare minimum way off. Mistakes will be made and will be left uncorrected and, eventually, be thought of as some sort of truth or fact. Furthermore, additional misinformation will be built up on top of those earlier mistakes and pretty soon you’ll realize you've no idea where you’re even at or how you got there in the first place.

You ever have that dreadful feeling in school when you were doing one of those fill in the black dots for your answers and right at the end you realize that your book is on question 98 and your pencil is filling in answer 99? It's as sinking as that is and it just  sucks when you suddenly realize that somewhere down the line you might have been holding your map upside down. And now you really need to just double back and make sure you are careful.

Worse still, information presented by seemingly reliable sources as being plain facts and entirely accurate will, of course, end up being erroneous. And even worse still is that this same bogus information passes as the truth might also go on to be validated and verified again as fact by yet another source. And everyone will be wrong.

Everything affects everything else really and that's never been more true than it is in genealogy. This stuff can get pretty frustrating and I've lost sleep over it before. [Plenty.] But it's absolutely fun for sure, too, and above all else maybe, it's enriching in a way that I can't easily describe. It's grounding and comforting at the same exact time. It's a challenge and a mystery and it's something that makes me feel connected.

Okay, so a lot of this stuff here, most of it I’d bet, could also best be described as being ‘mostly true’ or ‘almost exactly correct’. While, on the other hand, some of this stuff I admit can probably be more appropriately described as wildly inaccurate guesswork. I'm new to this and am sketching ideas and I’m doing the best I can to make sure this will be as complete and accurate as possible.

[I think it’ll end up being something close to that for sure. As complete and accurate as possible.]

McHenry Family Tree

I'm getting it close to being really put together. Finally. It's HERE.

Image and Photo Galleries

I've got more photographs hoarded away in different spots and I can hardly keep track of them all. I'm also an unashamed pack rat of the near-highest order and I'll keep scraps of paper and newspaper clippings and digital files around for years if I think it might be important somehow. [I usually end up forgetting that reason but still never part with the unidentified item. Just in case.] So this means that I've got plenty of other things to scan too. And slowly I'm scanning them all and I will post them as I do. I tend to upload a lot of these to my Picasa Web Folder as well as posting them here. I've already ended up with 5+ pages of images and you can start right over HERE. [PLEASE NOTE: I am scanning photos almost faster than I can build pages and make space for them here. They are automatically uploaded into my Google Photo Album as soon as they are scanned so for the most up to date files you really should just head over there and see everything all at once. If you want.]
